The Night Of The Triple-A, indeed. Nothing to do with the American Automobile Association for once (though this is a connection most metalheads aren't likely to bother to make as it would eat into their drinking time), but instead a term to coin the three-way bill of Aghast, Anoxia and Almamorta, who have certainly been able to provide justification to the term “three-pronged attack” with their sets tonight.
Almamorta
Almamorta kick off proceedings, showcasing their own brand of fast paced, groove inflected death metal with plenty of vim and vigour in their performance.
Unfortunately, while they are certainly capable enough on their instruments, the band barely progress beyond their basic rockin' template, and quickly the impression sets in that this band could be ten times more exciting with the inclusion of a few curveball ideas in the mix.
That said, the band's groove is a rock solid one, and their energy is irrefutable – theirs is a performance of exceptional competence and cohesion, and they can't be faulted for that.
